Dear Student

We hope your studies this semester have been progressing well and you are finding your time at UQ to be a rewarding experience. However, we appreciate that University study presents many challenges, so if you are concerned about your academic performance and do not think you can continue your enrolment in a course, you can withdraw from semester 1 courses via mySI-net on or before 30 April 2013.
A result of 'W' will be applied to the course and this will be listed on your studies report only.  A 'W' does not contribute to your grade point average. However, you will retain financial liability for the course.
If you have special circumstances that might warrant the removal of that financial liability, you can make a separate application accordingly.

If your circumstances change after 30 April and you believe you have grounds to withdraw without academic penalty before your results are finalised for the semester, for example because of the onset of serious illness or other special circumstances, you can apply in writing to your Faculty, requesting withdrawal. However, you would need to provide supporting documentation to substantiate the grounds for your request to the Faculty. Approving withdrawal without academic penalty after 30 April is a significant decision which is not made lightly. You will need to have strong grounds for your request, particularly regarding why you were unable (rather than unwilling) to withdraw before 30 April.
You should discuss your circumstances with staff in your faculty, school or Student Services for advice before making any enrolment changes. Staff will be able to assist you in making a decision about the future of your studies. Before you make a final decision, stop and consider the implications, particularly if you are an international student with student visa obligations.
